Black palm wood, shell inlay & fibre.
Length: 23 cm.
Provenance: Leo Fortess Collection, Hawaii; Tad Dale,
Santa Fe, NM.
Usually worn by men as hair ornaments, this is a typical example carved from palm wood with shell inlaid with adhesive paste from the ‘puttynut’ fruit. Originally found in England by Tad Dale, probably in the early 1980’s.
